Methods & Strategies

Treatment is a dynamic and difficult process. It trains you to be present and observe your feelings and behaviours. It helps you to seek your values, so that you can live a life according to them. It empowers you to set goals and find the right ways to achieve them. The way I work is complex. Depending on the personality, character and goals set by the therapist, I present and train him/her in techniques and strategies from various approaches. In short, I compose a specialized model of therapy based on the person in front of me and his/her needs. Some of the basic approaches I use are listed below:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Aims to understand the negative thoughts that can affect emotions and behaviour. It is a form of psychotherapy that aims to modify negative thoughts and beliefs. As a result, the individual’s excessive emotional reactions and self-destructive behaviours are reduced. At the same time, CBT also focuses on behavioral change, which can affect thoughts and feelings. The CBT approach is brief, structured, and time-limited. It requires collaboration between therapist and client.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
The approach focuses on emotion management. The primary goal is to train skills such as tolerance of difficult emotions, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness, so that the individual can increase his/her ability to manage difficult situations and intense emotions in an effective way. Skills such as mindfulness and radical acceptance are the basis of the approach to move the person towards improving distress.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Aims to change the way thoughts and emotions function, and the relationship between them, through acceptance and detachment. It is a therapy based on mindfulness as well as flexibility. In teaching psychological skills through ACT, the individual aims to find out what is really important in his/her life, and then based on this knowledge changes his/her daily life for the better. One of the key principles of ACT is understanding emotions rather than avoiding them.
